Starland Ballroom

Deep in the wilds of Jersey (Sayreville, to be exact) lies Starland Ballroom, a venue that's seriously inaccessible to most New Yorkers—public transportation won't get you there—but nevertheless worth a visit if you can get a carpool together. Touring rockers, punks and metalists sometimes hit Starland as a warm-up, or even an alternative, to an NYC date, and the tough, blue-collar crowds make them feel right at home.
