The latest worthy artist to take up residence at the Stone is Swiss-born pianist Sylvie Courvoisier, who consistently demonstrates a rare balance of rigor, poetry, liberty and energy in her playing, which spans the avant-jazz and contemporary-classical realms. She kicks off the run Mar 10 with a pair of duo sets: Her husband, violinist Mark Feldman, joins her at 8pm for a program of John Zorn pieces (and returns for several more sets during the week), while guitarist Marc Ribot turns up for the 10pm set. Other highlights include two sets by Mephista, Courvoisier's brilliant collective trio with electronics ace Ikue Mori and drummer Susie Ibarra, on Mar 13, and a solo set at 8pm on Mar 15.
