Takács Quartet

Recommended
Among the more consistently satisfying string quartets now working, the Takács gets creative with its programming for a Schubert-inspired affair. The program opens with Schubert's Quartettsatz in C minor, after which pianist Benjamin Hochman plays the composer's Sonata in B-flat (D. 960). The quartet returns in Daniel Kellogg's Soft Sleep Shall Contain You, based on Schubert's great "Death and the Maiden" Quartet, which follows to conclude the program.
