NEA Jazz Master Dave Liebman, a technically stunning saxophonist with a rich, volatile improvisational flow, turns up with his latest working band, the daring postbop quintet Expansions, heard on Liebman's latest release, Samsara. The group includes bassist and fellow veteran Tony Marino, as well as three rising stars: reedist Matt Vashlishan, pianist Bobby Avey and drummer Alex Ritz.
