The Heavens Atheist Gospel Trombone Choir

Jacob Garchik celebrates the release of a fascinating new effort, The Heavens: The Atheist Gospel Trombone Album, for which the local trombone whiz turned himself into a one-man horn choir, overdubbing his way to rollicking—and often quite moving—brass ecstasy. For this gig, Garchik recruits four fellow trombonists, baritone-horn player Brian Drye, sousaphonist Joe Daley and drummer Kenny Wollesen, to help him bring the quixotic venture to life.
