The Improvisor Festival

August at the Stone will offer a larger-than-usual dose of contemporary chamber music, thanks to the arrival of guest curators Annie Gosfield and Roger Kleier. But on opening night, an intrepid group of creative free-thinkers—guitarists Chris Cochrane and David First, accordionist Andrea Parkins, violinist LaDonna Smith and more—celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Improvisor, an international journal cofounded by Smith in 1980.
