Brothers Thorald and Isaac Korens grew up in Australia, but skipped town after high school and headed for New York. There, they happened upon an unorthodox subway drummer named Shakerleg (real name: Mark Nicosia), whose shtick was playing without sticks, and with—you guessed it—a shaker fastened to his leg. Shakerleg’s unique style proved to be the perfect foundation for the Kin’s arresting harmonies.
