This August in northern California, iconic composer Philip Glass is launching the Days and Nights Festival, which will feature innovative performers working in music, dance, theater, poetry and film. But if your summer travel plans don't involve a trip west, you can catch some of the featured performers at a warm-up concert here in New York. Notably, violinists Timothy Fain and Maria Bachmann, violist David Harding and cellist Matt Haimovitz perform Glass's shimmery String Quartet No. 5, plus other works by Glass and Schubert. Come early for a preconcert talk between Glass and his Orange Mountain Music colleague Richard Guérin.
