The Music Tapes feature Julian Koster, a member of the much-adored—and, to the delight of its many die-hards, recently reunited—Neutral Milk Hotel. In the latter band, Koster added a lot of the haunted garnishing sounds (singing saw), and he carries a similar effect to the Tapes. Here Koster spearheads "The Traveling Imaginary," which presents the band's beguiling mixture of sound collage and old-timey pop as part of what's being billed as an "immersive, dreamlike," show featuring carnival games and an actual circus tent. Sounds trippy and potentially wondrous to us.
