Still going strong after four decades, shadowy California avant-pop collective the Residents—which hides its identities behind massive papier-mâché eyeballs or scary clown masks—intersperses songs (a dizzyingly diverse range of prog rock, psychedelia and general creepiness) with videos about birth, rebirth and near-death experiences.
