Toshiko Akiyoshi

Carnegie Hall's yearlong JapanNYC festival has taken on new resonance in light of the recent earthquake and tsunami, not least as a show of the nation's enduring resilience and spirit. Tonight, veteran pianist and bandleader Toshiko Akiyoshi holds forth in three different formats: as a soloist, in a trio and with a quartet fronted by saxophonist Lew Tabackin.
