Van Dyke Parks + Clare and the Reasons

Van Dyke Parks famously collaborated with Brian Wilson on Smile, released solo albums, and produced or appeared on albums by U2, Randy Newman and Harry Nilsson. Yet increasingly, he is known for a more recent work: Joanna Newsom's Ys, for which he wrote the string arrangements. Tonight he makes a rare concert appearance. Fans of Parks are wise to show up early for the opener—the excellent local group Clare and the Reasons, whose delicate work recalls that of the headliner.
