Fusion-jazz bassist Victor Bailey must surely be the only musician in the world who's done time with Weather Report, Steps Ahead, Madonna and Mary J. Blige. At Smalls, he's working with a tight combo that includes saxophonist Alex Foster, vibraphonist Monte Croft and another versatile fusion-era vet, drummer Lenny White.
