Norwegian avant-headbangers Virus are a hard one to peg: weirdo metal imbued with spacey grooves, funky, winding bass and proggy histrionic vocals. Lead man Czral says people describe his band to him as a mix of the Talking Heads and Voivoid. However you spin it, this crew, making its U.S. debut this weekend, creates some damn unusual and compelling music. Three heavy, local progressives open each night: Krallice, Sannhet and Couch Slut on Oct 24 and Ocrilim, Dysrhythmia and Geryon on Oct 25.
