Classical music was built upon a culture of improvisation, a fact that is often lost in a world overrun by classically-trained automatons. Gil Selinger's Interzone series attempts to revive this tradition by presenting people like Walter Thompson, the inventor of a live compositional technique called "soundpainting," who will perform tonight with a quartet of sympathetic co-conspirators.
