Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble

The classical portion of the SummerStage season gets off to a roaring start with everyone's favorite cellist and his trailblazing world-music ensemble, who will enlist the talents of local chamber orchestra the Knights; actor Bill Irwin; musicians Bobby McFerrin, Jhumpa Lahiri, and Lil Buck; and 400 enthusiastic New York City sixth-graders for a massive musical-theater experience called Night at the Caravanserai: Tales of Wonder. Dancer Damian Woetzel handles the staging with Silk Road cellist Mike Block taking on the musical direction.
