A three-sided immersive movie screen is coming to Union Square

In July, I saw Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again on opening night. I happened to be on a micro-dose of mushrooms. As a 2000-foot-tall Christine Baranski high-kicked while crooning the lyrics of "Angel Eyes," I thought: It's never going to get better than this.

Perhaps I was wrong! On Thursday, global "immersive" theater chain ScreenX will install its first three-screened system in NYC at Regal's Union Square location for the premiere of The Nun. The new foray into visceral viewing expands movies to a 270-degree view, giving you a maximum, hyper-saturated experience of whatever film you're watching. Here's their primer video. With new locations in NYC and San Francisco launching this week, the brand will now be in 154 theaters around the world.

Recent ScreenX features have included And Man and the Wasp and The Meg, which look pretty insane on three screens. As for The Nun on three screens, we advise you to maybe hold off on the micro-dosing. Tickets for this one seem to be in scale with standard 4DX pricing, at $26. It seems severe, but considering that normal tickets are usually $17 and Moviepass may become a T-shirt website in the next month, you might as well just splurge on the scary nuns.
