Long Island is set to get a little more… Barone.
On November 28, the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) in Stony Brook will debut “Everybody Loves Raymond: Celebrating 30 Years,” an immersive, first-of-its-kind exhibition centered around the sitcom that turned suburban squabbles into primetime gold. The exhibit’s star? The full 70-foot-wide set made for the show’s 30th anniversary special, which will air on November 24 on CBS. The set has never been shown to the public before, making the exhibit a rare opportunity to stand exactly where the bickering, bantering and doorbell-ringing once took place.
The exhibit also has the blessing of the people who first brought the show to life. “I’m very happy the Everybody Loves Raymond exhibit is going to be on display at the LIMEHOF,” Ray Romano said. “The Barone family were Long Islanders. It’s our pleasure to share the show with the hometown crowd.”
Much of the experience comes courtesy of producer Rory Rosegarten, Romano’s longtime manager—and a Long Islander, of course—who shepherded the exhibit to Stony Brook after being wowed by another LIMEHOF blockbuster, “Billy Joel: My Life.”
“I was blown away by what I saw,” he said in a statement. “Artistically, it was gorgeous. It was vibrant and really exciting. The exhibit designer, Kevin O’Callaghan, is crazy good. He’s really a visionary.”
O’Callaghan is now designing the new exhibit, which will blend elements from the Paley Museum’s previous Raymond show with the newly built set from the TV special. Visitors will be able to step directly into the Barone universe—walking through the living room, kitchen and other corners of the house—while checking out artifacts like original costumes, the oversized fork and spoon and the Christmas toaster. Multimedia clips will run in the on-site surround-sound theater.
Tickets for the exhibit are available right here.
