Gilded Age fans and unwitting passersby got a glimpse of season 4 outfits this week when mostly background actors were seen crossing a midtown sidewalk on a very rainy day.
The video by photographer Oscar Diaz shows men in tuxes entering a crosswalk together—which looks like some kind of album cover—other men dressed as servants, and women in ruffled dresses and petticoats holding their dresses up so they don't get wet.

It’s a cool glimpse into what the past may have looked like, but more so what filming in the city entails: actors hurriedly getting to set while trying to avoid attention, rain and anything else the city throws at them.
Gilded Age is filming its fourth season, which will include scenes shot right here in the city. According to the fan-made Gilded Age Map, filming has taken place on East 26th-28th Streets and Park Avenue South, and likely at the Prince George Ballroom at 15 East 27th Street.
We also know filming is happening in Harlem this week—New Yorkers have posted the film shoot fliers for the show in front of the beautiful townhouses on St. Nicholas Avenue and Convent Avenue.

The drama series, from creator Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey), transports viewers to the Gilded Age in New York City, circa the 1880s, where old money families like the van Rhijn and new money families like the Russells vie for top social billing while trying to avoid scandal. It features a large ensemble cast including Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Audra McDonald, Cynthia Nixon and Christine Baranski.
If you want to get in on the ongoing filming, producers are seeking background actors! The show is seeking men and women of all ages, ethnicities and body types to portray wealthy socialites, servants and other background characters over several weeks at various locations across Upstate New York, including in Troy, Schenectady and Albany.
You can apply on backstage.com or the Grant Wilfley Casting website.
Maybe we’ll see you on the small screen!
