We live in the epicenter of capitalism, so it's only natural that most of us New Yorkers love perusing the city's best shops for fun and cool loot. Some of us spend our hard-earned paycheck on travel and experiences like fancy dinners at the best restaurants in the city or awesome concerts. Others like to gobble up clothes, shoes, vinyl and books.

Let's be honest: Do we actually need all of these materialistic possessions? According to our shopping expert (hi, it me) the answer is no, but also, YES.

Look, there's a lot of wonderful and useful stuff on the market right now for New Yorkers, which is why we've taken the liberty to share the five products we're really digging right now. (Don't worry—they're all reasonably priced and budget-friendly.)

Now, in the great words of '90s teen pop band *NSYNC, go “Buy, buy, buy” these awesome products. Or something like that.

Aloe vera and Calvert planter from the Sill

There’s nothing prettier than the city coated with glistening snow, but once it turns to slush, we’re reminded that winter in New York is pretty drab—but your living space doesn’t have to be! Add life and oxygen to your home with this cute potted aloe plant from the Sill. Bonus: This succulent prefers the desert, so it’s okay if you forget to water it (sometimes). 84 Hester St • 448 Amsterdam Ave • (646-450-7455, thesill.com). $36. Buy now.

Personalized Library Book Stamp from Fall For Design

If you’re an avid collector of literature, you have a pile of books as high as a skyscraper. And this likely means you’re the go-to tome lender for your friends who are too cheap to buy books or too lazy to get a library card. Next time your pal “borrows” a book, this cute stamp sends the message that no one steals from your hard-earned stack. etsy.com/shop/fallfordesign; starts at $26. Buy now.

Giant Supreme Pizza Snow Tube from Big Mouth Inc.

We all know that “working from home” during a snowstorm actually translates to “I’ll be on Slack while bingeing The Crown.”  Take a break between episodes—er, we mean “emails”—and speed down one of the many sled-friendly hills in our city’s best parks. Let this pizza-themed snow tube inspire you to refuel with a slice afterward. bigmouthinc.com; $25. Buy now.

Kissing Love Tester from Kikkerland

Ahh, it’s that magical time of year when chilly weather mixed with prolonged indoor activity causes singles to desperately search for a Netflix-and-chill partner. Kikkerland makes your quest for finding a bae easier with this nifty tool. Give your date a smooch while holding the device. If it beeps and lights up, you’ve found your match. 463 Sixth Ave (212-262-5000, kikkerland.com); $12.50. Buy now
