New Yorkers have long debated the city's best taco. But now one of its most beloved taquerias is giving fans something new to obsess over: hoodies, T-shirts and even a tote bag inspired by takeout.
Gap has teamed up with Los Tacos No. 1, the perpetually popular taco chain with locations from Chelsea Market to Times Square, for a limited-edition collection that celebrates one of New York's greatest food success stories. The collaboration drops today, with prices ranging from $28 to $118.
The collection takes classic Gap staples, including logo hoodies, graphic tees and accessories, and gives them a distinctly Los Tacos twist. Graphics are designed by Steve Powers, the artist behind the hand-painted signs and playful artwork you'll recognize if you've ever waited in line for an adobada taco. There are also plenty of references that regulars will appreciate, including the restaurant's iconic "No Ticket, No Taco" slogan and pieces inspired by the taqueria's day-to-day life. There's a diner-style cap modeled after staff uniforms, a reusable tote that looks like one of the restaurant's signature takeout bags, cargo shorts and pocket tees influenced by kitchen workwear and even a chef's apron created exclusively for the collaboration.
"Los Tacos No. 1 started with a simple idea—bringing the flavors, energy and spirit of Tijuana street taco culture to New York in an authentic way," he said. "What began as a small passion project between friends has grown into something much bigger, so collaborating with Gap—a brand rooted in individuality and community—feels incredibly special."
Shoppers can now snag the collection online and at five Gap stores across the city: Times Square, 42nd Street and Third Avenue, Flatiron, 85th Street and Third Avenue, and Lincoln Square. Just don't be surprised if your new hoodie leaves you craving tacos.
