Madonna, BTS and Shakira are officially headlining the first-ever FIFA World Cup final halftime show at MetLife Stadium this summer, which means the world’s biggest soccer match is apparently also about to become the most overqualified concert lineup in human history.
FIFA and Global Citizen announced this week that the three global superstars will co-headline the historic performance during the FIFA World Cup 2026 final on July 19 at what FIFA is temporarily calling “New York New Jersey Stadium,” otherwise known to the rest of us as MetLife Stadium.
The halftime show, which FIFA says will be broadcast live to millions worldwide, is being curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and produced by Global Citizen alongside Live Nation and Done + Dusted. According to Martin, the whole thing will be “all about togetherness… and everyone’s invited.”
The show will be the first halftime performance in FIFA World Cup final history—essentially FIFA’s answer to the Super Bowl halftime show, but with more international chaos on the guest list—and will also feature appearances by characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets. (That means somewhere between Madonna and BTS, there is now a realistic possibility that Kermit the Frog may appear during the World Cup final.)
There’s also a major philanthropic angle behind the spectacle. The performance will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aimed at raising $100 million to expand access to education and football opportunities for children around the world. FIFA says more than $30 million has already been raised, with $1 from every World Cup 2026 ticket sold going toward social impact projects globally.
In a statement, Madonna called performing at the final “deeply meaningful,” while Shakira said she’ll perform “Dai Dai,” the song she created for this World Cup and the education initiative. BTS added that music is “the universal language of hope and harmony.”
Basically, if you thought getting World Cup tickets was already impossible, imagine trying to get into this one.
