In case you haven’t noticed, there are very few female statues displayed in New York City. In fact, only five out of 150 sculptures are of nonfictional women. Yikes.

However, that cringe-worthy oversight is slowly but surely starting to change with the Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony tributes to be installed in Central Park on August 26, 2020. (And we can’t forget about our beloved Fearless Girl, too.)

This summer, there will be more fierce and stoic females gracing our city streets as a public showcase called “Statues for Equality” opens at 1285 Avenue of the Americas in late August.

Launched by artists Gillie and Marc of the 17-foot-tall rhino sculpture at Astor Place, the project includes ten bronze replicas of infamous women located outside of the RXR Realty building.

6sqft.com reports that the badass honorees are Oprah Winfrey, Pink, Nicole Kidman, Jane Goodall, Cate Blanchett, Tererai Trent, Janet Mock, Tracy Dyson, Cheryl Strayed and Gabby Douglas. Each woman will get to choose a flower in which her respective statue will stand upon as a symbol of “power, comfort and beauty.”

You can learn more about this exciting installation here. The sculptures are set to arrive in time for Women’s Equality Day on August 26.

Brilliant idea! I think the initiative is just perfect. This is a good way to capture history and introduce great women to the future generation.  I suppose this could be a very interesting topic for https://topcustomwrite.com/. The idea is very bright and represents the current state of affairs. The idols of people tells us more about these people.
