Good news for anyone who's ever happily worn olive oil on their shirt after enjoying an Alidoro sandwich: the beloved Italian panini shop is getting another Manhattan outpost.

The iconic sandwich spot, which first opened in SoHo almost 40 years ago, will debut a new location at One Madison Avenue next Thursday, July 9, joining existing locations in SoHo, Rockefeller Center, Moynihan Train Hall, The Hugh and JFK Terminal 8. (Even more openings are already on the horizon, including the Empire State Building this September, JFK Terminal 6 later this year and a Financial District location slated for 2027.)

If you've somehow never made the pilgrimage, Alidoro has spent nearly four decades building a loyal following with sandwiches that balance Italian tradition and New York excess, in the best possible way. The shop earned a spot on the New York Times' list of the "57 Sandwiches That Define NYC," thanks to its meticulously assembled panini made with fresh bread, imported meats and cheeses and house-made spreads. But rather than piling everything sky-high, Alidoro leans into the Italian philosophy that every ingredient should work in harmony: prosciutto is sliced paper-thin, signature condiments include black garlic mustard and truffle cream and there’s always just enough of everything to let each flavor shine.

The new Flatiron-area location will serve the shop's full lineup of 21 signature sandwiches, along with breakfast sandwiches, pastries and coffee from Afficionado Coffee. Behind the counter, there will be the familiar open kitchen and visible slicing stations, a nod to the classic Italian paninoteca. To celebrate opening day, Alidoro is sweetening the deal: customers who stop by between noon and 2 pm on July 9 will receive a complimentary scoop of Amorino gelato with any purchase.

If you need another excuse to revisit one of the city's sandwich institutions, this newest location might be it. Just don't expect to leave without debating whether to order your longtime favorite—or finally branch out.
