Every year, the Five Boro Bike Tour hands the city over to cyclists (tens of thousands of them!) who roll through all five boroughs on streets blissfully cleared of cars, turning highways, bridges and boulevards into one giant moving block party.

This year’s ride, held on Sunday, May 3, brought out everyone from first-timers wobbling over the Verrazzano to seasoned riders. It’s a tradition that’s grown from a scrappy 1977 ride with a few hundred participants into a global event drawing riders from across the country and dozens of countries worldwide.
