Because nothing says New York like baseball and a beer in the shadow of the Oculus

It’s Subway Series time in New York, and this year’s faceoff between the Yankees and Mets promises fireworks—and not just on the field. For those without a ticket to the Bronx, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is teaming up with MLB to host free watch parties for all three games this weekend at North Oculus Plaza on the World Trade Center campus.

The games—part of MLB’s inaugural “Rivalry Weekend”—kick off Friday, May 16, at 7:05pm, followed by matchups on Saturday, May 17, at 1:05pm and Sunday, May 18, at 7:10pm. Viewing areas open two hours before first pitch, with games broadcast live (and with sound) on massive outdoor screens.

If the on-field drama isn’t enough—Juan Soto will return to Yankee Stadium for the first time since signing a jaw-dropping $765 million deal with the Mets—there’s plenty more in store off the diamond. Expect cornhole, Connect Four, live DJ sets and appearances from Mr. and Mrs. Met. There will even be a real-deal World Series trophy for fans to pose with because, hey, hope springs eternal.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase from the Oculus Beer Garden and surrounding Westfield World Trade Center restaurants, and Friday night attendees can grab bites from late-night Smorgasburg vendors. Lucky fans may also score free swag, including Aaron Judge and Francisco Lindor tees, rally towels and ticket vouchers.

The events are free and open to the public, but RSVPs via Eventbrite are encouraged (not required). It’s standing room only with limited high-top tables available on a first-come basis, so arrive early if you want a good spot—or a place to rest your soft pretzel.

And if the weather doesn’t cooperate, don’t stress: MLB is streaming all 15 Rivalry Weekend games for free on MLB.TV—no subscription needed. But let’s be honest: watching the Yankees and Mets go head-to-head with a skyline backdrop? That’s as New York as it gets.
