There’s going to be a gorgeous Harvest Moon in the sky tonight

Cue Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon,” as one will rise tonight!

Following the autumn equinox, a time during which we reap the bounty of seeds well planted earlier this year and leave that which hasn’t sprouted behind, we experience the first full moon of the season. (By the way, for all you astrology addicts, tonight’s full moon is in Aries.)

In some skies, the harvest moon may appear quite large with a pale orange tint. But frankly, the full moon always appears that way, according to Forbes. However, some people believe the Harvest Full moon has special mystic powers. Others believe that this full moon is about to bring on some serious drama. Astrologists believe that with any full moon, this phase signifies a time for letting go anything that no longer serves you. That’s particularly fitting as we say sayonara to summer and gear up for the best things to do in fall in New York. Hopefully that means we can say goodbye to sweltering hot days and embrace the crisp autumn air (and all the cozy sweaters, scarves and boots that come with it.)

Regardless, la lune is going to illuminate the sky and be pretty AF, so you better hit one of the best rooftop bars in NYC (and, yes, many of them are still open) for a killer view and prepare to be “Moonstruck.” The full moon rises in New York at 7:01pm.

As Young sings, “Let’s go dancing in the light.”
