If your Friday plans already involved listening to Harry Styles, congratulations: you’re participating in civic life. Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal has proclaimed today, October 30, as Harry Styles Appreciation Day, giving the singer an official borough tribute ahead of Halloween.
The honor arrives on the penultimate night of Styles’ 30-night Together, Together residency at Madison Square Garden. His final two performances fall tonight and tomorrow, making this a particularly emotional Halloween weekend for anyone whose recent calendar has revolved around Penn Station.

Hoylman-Sigal described Styles as “a once-in-a-generation musical talent” in the proclamation. He also praised the singer’s humility and positive attitude, tracing a career that began long before tens of thousands of fans were organizing their evenings around his stage entrances.

Styles’ latest Garden run began August 26, with performances scheduled on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, adding to an already lengthy relationship with the arena. Styles played two Garden shows in 2018, five in 2021 and 15 in 2022 before returning for this year’s 30-night engagement.
Fans received a particularly appropriate nod to the city on Wednesday, when Styles performed “Ever Since New York,” a track from his self-titled debut album. According to Parade, it was his first performance of the song in four years; its previous outing marked his 15th night at MSG in 2022.
His New York routine has reportedly extended beyond the arena, too, with sightings on walks between Brooklyn and Manhattan, coffee-shop stops and conversations with fans. For a city that generally prides itself on leaving famous people alone, New Yorkers have certainly been keeping track.
To be precise, this is a Manhattan borough proclamation, so Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island retain full authority over their own playlists. But if you needed an excuse to put “Ever Since New York” on repeat today, the borough president has supplied one.
