If you missed your chance to catch a shower of ticker tape in Lower Manhattan—or just want the ultimate conversation starter for your apartment wall—New York City is about to auction off one of the rarest pieces of Knicks memorabilia around.
Starting today, July 29, the city is auctioning an authentic "Champions Way" street sign that hung along Broadway during the New York Knicks' championship parade following the team's historic 2026 NBA Finals victory. Bidding opened at 9am with a starting price of $100; the auction runs through August 12 at 8pm.
This isn't one of the replica signs that disappeared almost instantly earlier this summer, though. It's the real thing.

The blue-and-orange aluminum sign is one of just 30 official "Champions Way" signs created by the New York City Department of Transportation for the Canyon of Heroes celebration. Measuring 36 inches by 9 inches, it was handcrafted at the agency's sign shop in Maspeth, Queens—the same facility that produces more than 70,000 official street signs for the city every year.
The signs turned Broadway into "Champions Way" for the Knicks' long-awaited victory parade, with two installed at each intersection along the route. According to the city, there are no current plans to auction the remaining 29 parade-used signs, making this first offering especially collectible.
"The Knicks brought home a championship after a 53-year drought and now is your chance to own a unique piece of the festivities," said NYC DOT Commissioner Mike Flynn. "NYC DOT was proud to join the celebration and bring an extra touch of civic pride to the Canyon of Heroes during this special day in the history of our city."
Demand for Knicks keepsakes has already proven to be sky-high. Earlier this year, the city released 200 replica versions of the Champions Way sign—built in the same shop but never displayed during the parade—and they reportedly sold out in just seven minutes.
The auction is being handled by the Department of Citywide Administrative Services, which regularly sells surplus city property ranging from office furniture to decommissioned vehicles. Over the years, the agency has also auctioned off a Redbird subway car, an oil barge and, perhaps most famously, the John F. Kennedy Staten Island Ferry, which was purchased by comedians Pete Davidson and Colin Jost in 2022.
Unlike those oversized collectibles, though, this one might actually fit in your apartment, assuming you can outbid the rest of Knicks Nation.
