Starting today, May 30, your Friday commute through Times Square might get a little... spinny.
That’s because SPIN Midtown, the legendary ping pong social club known for mixing paddles with party vibes, is setting up shop right in the center of the city, offering free outdoor ping pong every Friday from 4 to 7 pm all summer long. And yes, everything’s included: paddles, balls, tables, and a neon-soaked, skyscraper-lined backdrop that’s hard to beat.
RECOMMENDED: Play ping-pong with a robot underground at a SPIN location near Times Square
The pop-up takes place smack in the middle of the Times Square pedestrian plaza, between 46th and 50th Streets, transforming the tourist crossroads into a full-on ping pong playground. New Yorkers, office escapees and brave tourists alike are welcome to jump in for a quick rally, whether you’re looking to casually volley with friends or test your mettle against one of SPIN’s pro players.
No need to BYOP (bring your own paddle)—just show up, step in and start swinging.
If the outdoor energy gets you in the mood for more serious spins, SPIN Midtown is sweetening the deal. Lucky participants may score free 30-minute table reservations at their indoor club just around the corner at Broadway and 50th Street. That means you can continue the ping pong party indoors, with air conditioning, cocktails and snacks to fuel your post-work play.
“Only in New York can you find yourself smashing ping pong balls beneath a billboard and then sipping a cocktail 10 minutes later,” said no one in particular, but it feels true.
The weekly series runs through Friday, August 29, making this one of the summer’s easiest, breeziest ways to get a little active and a lot of fun, right in the heart of midtown.
