Regulars of the Amsterdam Café might not recognize the two-floor restaurant and lounge it has become. But they’ll be happy with what they see: The owners have given the dining room a makeover and added a more ambitious menu with dishes like Moroccan-spiced wild salmon, and an osso buco made with pork, served with polenta and braised vegetables. Downstairs is a slick lounge, which has a DJ booth, 20 plasma-screen TVs and a tapas menu that’s served until 2am on weekends. The Columbia student’s drink of choice: a shooter called Absolut Stress.

I love this place! Its not so great for an everyday meal since the prices are a bit out of reach for the typical student's budget... but brunch is AMAZING here and this place is also great for a date or for when your parents come to town. I will definitely go back for the specials. Tapas selection is impressive, and the dance lounge in the back at night is so fun for a night with the girls. Also, the coat check was free and there was a DJ, which in a small lounge like this is sometimes rare. A lot of the reviews say there is slow service, but I've had the same waiter every time and he;s been great. Very attentive, even though it was fairly busy.
