Is there anything this restaurant can’t batter? The fish-and-chips here are among New York’s best, whether you choose cod, haddock or plaice. This is also the spot for such U.K. classics as bangers and mash, Welsh rarebit and shepherd’s pie. And for dessert, go for one of their famous deep-fried candy bars.

Recently had an impromptu date night here with the boo and it was glorious. We made our way over after seeing this place on the Food Network. We ordered jumbo shrimp, fish and chip butty (a must order secret item!), and a side of macaroni and cheese. Ended our meal with a killer sticky toffee pudding. I had high expectations, and I was not disappointed. It was amazeballs. The only thing that came out of my mouth was a constant mmmmmmmm sound. Service was great, decor was cute and quirky, and food was amazing. All in all a great experience. If you want really awesome, authentic English food, this is the place to go. Glad we stopped by and excited to come back to try everything else!

Terrible for my waistline, but god, do I love this place. The chips are pretty much perfect, and of course you have to at least try the haddock. But seasoned vets will quickly move on to shepherd's pie, the "granny mac" and mushy peas. All slathered in HP sauce. And the beer list is stupefying. This place basically saved my life for a few months. I wish they'd play more Britpop.
