Greek families crowd this companionable place for home-away-from-home dinners. Fresh fish chills on ice by the front window, lamb sizzles on an open grill, and overflowing baskets of semolina bread grace every table. Share a generous Greek salad of tomatoes, cucumbers, plump black olives and crumbly feta cheese, then move on to lightly fried fish or lamb stew with orzo. Stamatis has a decent wine list (white retsinas, Calligas reds, Makedonikos rosés), but no dessert menu. Instead, every diner is given a slice of galaktoboureko (farina custard).
