Co-owned by cookbook scribe and PBS personality Lidia Bastianich, this perpetually busy Restaurant Row dining complex—with five welcoming dining rooms, decorated in different degrees of hominess—runs like a well-oiled machine, powered by a battery of energized servers. The famous $22.95 all-you-can-eat special, popular with the pretheater crowd, offers unlimited servings of three watery, hastily prepared pastas of the day; better to stick to the pricier regular menu, which offers savory, family-style dishes in portions that are eminently well suited to sharing.

You gotta admit. In this part of town, you could do FAR worse.

Becco, to put it frankly, is a run of the mill Italian restaurant. The kind you'd find in your hometown (unless your hometown is Florence). It's not great or destination worthy. There are no standout dishes that make you think "wow, I gotta come back". The space is very cramped, and there are way too many tables packed in a relatively small space.

But you know what Becco also is? One of your best bets in the Theater District. If you're seeing a show and are looking for something nearby that your parents won't mind, I definitely suggest Becco.

Most parties opt for the unlimited pasta option, which is basically the carb version of Brazilian BBQ. Waiters walk around with huge platters and you flag them down. But it's easy to enter food coma territory, which is a dangerous if you're heading to a 3 hour musical with no intermission.
