Brother Jimmy's BBQ is what it is - a divey, southern style bar that will get you by with decent food and drinks in a fairly baron neighborhood around MSG/Penn Station. It won't be a high class meal, but if you're in Midtown and in the mood for some good old fashioned southern comfort food, Bro Jim's is your spot. With it's proximity to MSG, keep in mind that it can get pretty crowded with the beer swilling crowd on game nights, but it's a good option for killing time before catching a train. From the south? Check out Bro Jim's on "Southern Appreciation Night" and receive half-price drinks with a valid ID from the southern states.

We had just arrived back from a long Amtrak trip and low and behold, Brother Jimmy's was situated perfectly for us to attack our hunger and they did not disappoint either. They say everything is bigger in Texas, the portion sizes affirm that theory. The decor is complimentary to the style this place conducts itself in: chilled and friendly. Its a huge place so I don't think one has to worry about never getting a place to sit. With regards to the food, its a comprehensive Southern menu. I myself tucked into the Press'D Bourbon Brisket with a side of cornbread, although the brisket was slightly dry the complimentary BBQ sauce allowed for a pleasant meal and a Sunday afternoon beer did the trick. The staff are extremely friendly and the service prompt. A good day out!
