Owner Alejandro Alcocer opened this small space to compensate for the local lack of decent coffee. You can still get a mean latte, but now you can also choose from more than 20 entrées that are based on organic ingredients. Daily specials, scribbled on the front-door glass, usually include a soup, a quiche and a cheese-and-meat plate. Alcocer serves beer and wine and a dinner menu from chef Gregory Torrech (Allen & Delancey). Sculpted wooden plank tables, benches and stumplike stools give the place the feel of an afternoon picnic straight from the glossy pages of Surface.
