Time Out says

Take a trip to the outback at this 36-seat joint dishing out Australian fare. Named after Robert O'Hara Burke and William John Wills—the first European explorers to cross the country—this Upper West Side restaurant features decor inspired by the duo’s journey (wood bale walls, wildlife art). At a 20-seat bar, sip classic cocktails crafted by beverage director Greg Seider (the Summit Bar, Le Bernardin), along with Down Under wines. Chef Stan Matusevich (MP Taverna, Fish Tag) oversees the menu, dispatching plates like the 'Roo burger—topped with tomato jam and shaved onions—and seared barramundi with haricots verts. Rotisserie specials such as stuffed porchetta and whole quail change daily.

Spent some time here recently both on apps and drinks at the bar and then for a full birthday dinner with friends, so I was able to experience just about the whole restaurant. Although the dinner menu is a bit on the pricier side, everything was delicious - and if you're looking for a more affordable experience, I highly recommend the snacks at the bar on deep discount. For just $5, you can get everything from crab beignets to fried oysters served with a side of bourbon and Australian accents. A great UWS option!

A brunch with 2 burgers and 2 cocktails with tax + tip will run you about $70 here, but damn are the burgers worth it! Topped with a fried egg, beets and pineapple, aussie-style, juicy and grilled to perfection. Their Bloody Mary menu was also a great addition. Fresh pastries offered to kick off the meal was a great surprise as well. Love going here for a nice quiet brunch (though can get a bit boisterous during peak hours).

The Upper West Side is pretty sparse when it comes to affordable, cool places to hang out, so Burke & Wills is an amazing addition to the neighborhood. I've been for drinks and brunch. The food is delicious - and there are very unique options. The drinks are also incredible - unlike a lot of unlimited brunches that serve watered down, pretty tasteless cocktails, Burke & Wills' serves flavorful cocktails and has a lot of options to choose from. The staff is so friendly and attentive. I've also had the chance to get a sneak peak at the upstairs Manhattan Cricket Club and I will definitely be going back to hang out there. So happy to have this in my neighborhood!
