While many come to Little Italy for Parisi Bakery stacked sandwiches or Di Palo's cheeses, Caffe Roma, to us, is one of the neighborhood's most charming destinations. Open since 1891, this Little Italy institution offers pignoli cookies and cannolis with a side of history, seen through details like wire heart-shaped stools, quaint floor tiles and chocolatey wood walls. So often Little Italy can feel hard to navigate and overrun by kitschy spots catering to tourists, but Caffe Roma is a respite.
