Time Out says

Taco booster Felipe Mendez Candelas (La Superior) branches out with this 70-seat cantina. Slide into picnic tables crafted from bowling alley lanes for Mexican classics: shrimp or scallop aguachile, tostadas topped with grilled octopus and duck enchiladas. Mendez also offers new tacos like the Villamelon (carne asada, chorizo and avocado) and the Pescado Pibil (grilled fish, pickled onions and roasted-pepper sauce). Cool your palate with margaritas and Mexican beers.

Between the cozy vibe and delicious Mexican food, it's hard not to want to love Cerveceria, but the only consistent thing about this restaurant is the abismal quality of service.

I even tolerate it and honestly eat here somewhat often, because the food is so good. You just have to know what you're getting into, which is the purpose of this review. Here are a few situations you might encounter:

1) Entering an 85% empty restaurant and told that all open tables are reserved. You are only given a seat when you tell the "host" you're just interested in a quick meal, and subsequently given a time limit for your meal.

2) Your server bring your entrées out 20 minutes apart from your guest. When you get their attention, the server lies and tells you that your single taco just "takes longer."

3) You ask for the check because the rest of your order still hasn't arrived an hour later and the server argues with you, does not apologize, or make eye contact.

4) The staff gives customers attitude, is unapproachable, aloof, or unfriendly.

Cerveceria is an amazing example of how NOT to run a service-oriented business, especially a restaurant. Advice to the owners. Hire entirely new service staff. But seriously the place is very charming and the Mexican food is some of the best in Williamsburg. Enjoy!

This place is legit. The food is awesome and the staff is great. The aguachile is authentic and delicious. Same great margaritas as La Superior and it won't break the bank. Real mexican (not California or Texas) food in NY!!!!!!!

This place definitely rock! Tried the steak salad, the Aguachile and some tacos and was terrific! This place tastes like Mexico City! Good vibes. Thumbs up!
