Time Out says

A local favorite for Mexican fare

Neighborhood favorite Chavela’s got its start over on Classon Avenue in 2007 before relocating to this larger space nearby four years ago to accommodate a following hungry for Mexican cuisine and a lengthy list of detailed cocktails. Here, they’re hand-making margaritas, pouring from oodles of mezcal and tequila options, and serving tons of taco and quesadilla varieties alongside salsa, guacamole and plenty of large plates. Chavela’s also serves brunch every day of the week and has a happy hour Monday through Thursday from 4pm to 7pm.

Traditional Mexican cuisine - the flavors of Mexico City! Full of lively music, delicious food, great cocktails and lots of laughter.

Chavela's 4 Hand Shaken Margarita Flavors Explained 🍹

Jamaica (pronounced Ha-mai-ca)
(aka Hibiscus, aka Sorrel)
Jamaica starts as a dark red tea made from brewing the Hibiscus sabdariffa flower. Sweetened and shaken up with a marg, it's tart, refreshing, and brilliant red in color. Just don't spill it on your dress.

Tamarind
Tamarind might make an ugly orangy brown margarita, but is it ever delicious! One of our most popular margarita flavors for those who know, we often describe the flavor of tamarind as a cross between a pineapple and a strawberry. It all starts with scraping out tamarind paste from dried pods. Yum!

Strawberry 🍓
Fresh strawberry puree in a margarita sells itself. This is our most popular marg mod and goes great with a fish taco.

Spicy...Calling all spicy lovers! 🔥🌶
For the initiated only. We infuse our Pueblo Viejo tequila with spicy habaneros for days, then serve it up shaken with agave and lime. Woah. Pairs well with our famous mole sauce.
