Cowgirl Seahorse

After two decades of business, the West Village’s Cowgirl welcomed a baby sister to the family, where owner Sherry Delamarter combines her native-Texan love of Western cooking with an expanded seafood menu. Cowgirl mainstays like “chicken-fried chicken” share menu space with Gulf foods such as po’ boys, while the breakfast selection features dishes only a Southerner could have dreamt up, such as Cap’n Crunch–crusted French toast. Parents: Chase it with the Ethyl Mermaid (rum, apricot brandy and fresh citrus juices).

This little gem is settled right below the Brooklyn Bridge and if you blink you may just miss it. But when you step inside the name automatically makes sense. Country music plays in the background but when you look at the setup its all nautical, just go with it. The service is extremely friendly and the portions large so you are definitely getting value for money. I tucked into a burger and a salad which hit the spot. If you want to get a buzz on then hop right into their delicious cocktails, you may have a little mermaid visit you from the depth of your glass.
