Vintage Korean newspapers plastered on the walls, a hip downtown crowd and Asian-inflected cocktails make this venerable East Village kim chee palace a more stylish cousin to 32nd Street and Flushing’s Seoul food joints. Though Dok Suni’s tables lack grills, the menu’s barbecued offerings are excellent and spare you from reeking of charred meat: A sweet chili-pepper sauce enlivens broiled chicken and juicy, garlicky pork ribs rival any Texan-style rack. If you need time to digest your feast, polite servers let you linger as long as you like over free glasses of post-meal persimmon tea.
