Dulce de Leche, Nutella filled, hibiscus, or glazed, every doughnut here is a winner, especially paired with a Stumptown coffee.
i have a pretty serious donut obsession. i can say that out of all the donuts i've had in my life, the moment i had a bite of dough, i knew this was the perfect donut and we were meant to be. seriously, the dough is chewy but soft and not too sweet. the chocolate earl grey, salted chocolate caramel, and dulce de leche are my favorites. would i marry these donuts? the answer is yes, you fool. i think they're known for their hibiscus donut but it's a little too tarte for me. if you're in manhattan, they also have a branch in the flatiron.
This place lives up to its reputation. These doughnuts are HUGE and very tasty. The texture is light and spongy so that they completely compress when bitten into. My personal favorite is the toasted coconut, but the traditional glazed is also great. Be prepared to line up, especially if going on the weekend. However, the glass window provides entertainment while you wait as you watch the bakers meticulously making all sorts of delicious treats (I’m not sure where these go as the store only sells doughnuts). Pair your doughnut with a thick Ronnybrook chocolate milk from the fridge and you’ll be in sugar heaven!
yum yum and yum! when in BK, do not forget to stop at Dough. Treat yourself! They are not too expensive and always fresh
I frequent the Dough shop in Bedford-Stuyvesant, and I love it. Usually on weekends, there's a line out the door before noon, but it moves pretty fast. The space itself is great. There are huge windows, with just a couple of bar stools and a small window counter. There are windows separately the line of customers and the bakery, so you can watch the staff making the doughnuts. Also, I love how fresh the doughnuts are at this shop (not sure how fresh they are at other locations). Every doughnut you eat there has been made not just that morning, but probably in the last 90 minutes. Glorious. They et really creative with the flavors, but my favorite remains the hibiscus...bright pink and very sweet, but the frosting is made from real hibiscus flowers in-house, and there's an edible candied hibiscus flower on every doughnut, which is huge, BTW.
If you are a doughnut lover you NEED to go to Dough! You will get overwhelmed by the number of options so solve that problem with just bringing home a dozen. They are delicious and reasonably priced!
