This Tex- Mex restaurant located in Murray Hill is great for happy hour, as they have killer margaritas, or some huge portions of Mexican food with a Southwest flare. It’s divided into two sections, Mexico and Texas which are both equally as lively and festive. They’ve got all the standard Mexican dishes like nachos, quesadillas, burritos, and fajitas. Some specialities that stand out are the cowboy shell steak and the roasted chicken with dark mole sauce. If by some chance you have managed to save room for dessert, you’ve got delicious choices like sweet potato pie, churros serves with chocolate Baileys sauce, and fried ice cream.

This place is best for their margaritas, which are amazingly strong. I've used this place most often for post-work drinks, particularly when you can take advantage of the large outdoor area. Largely a corporate crowd, these post-work drinks often turn into a scene you'd expect to see on a Friday night, fueled by the strongest margaritas I've ever had the fortune to have.

This place is my favorite place for going after work in Midtown East, in the vicinity of Grand Central. I don't think they have special on drinks but theirs are so strong the alcohol to dollar ratio is already so strong, each margarita is almost a deal in and of itself.

My experience with food has been limited to chips + guac where were fine, though this doesn't strike me as a place that would have particularly great food. Especially if you go on a nice Thursday evening, expect to bar to be a bit crowded - you have to be a little bit more aggressive about getting their attention is all. 4 stars primarily given the outdoor area and the margaritas that have fueled many good evenings at Rio Grande.
