Smart restaurants know that you can’t please everyone. Win over the hipsters and you might alienate the grown-ups; appease the romantics and you lose the scene-seekers. Five Points is a rare exception to the rule, where New Yorkers of all types seem to feel at home. Chef-owner Marc Meyer’s ever-changing seasonal menu might include a side dish of oven-roasted brussels sprouts, a salad of butternut squash and pomegranate, or scallops with deliciously sweet dried-apple salad and cider-butter sauce. Happy hour is not to be missed: From 5 to 6pm on weeknights, martinis are $5 and oysters are just two bucks each.
