The Peninsula Hotel pampers guests with cushy pillows, terry cloth bathrobes and bathroom TVs embedded in marble. You’ll be similarly spoiled at Fives, the hotel’s classy yet casual restaurant, where bartenders speak in the third person (“Would the gentleman like another Scotch?”) and amuse-bouches like smoked salmon topped with caviar reach your table almost before you do. The seafood-heavy “Atlantic rim” menu changes often but usually features foie gras sautéed with duck confit. Among the betters dishes are a buttery risotto with spicy chunks of sweet chorizo sausage and a garlicky Colorado lamb noisette.
