One time I went into Irving Farm wearing a shirt with whales on it. The barista was super cheery and nice. I ordered a bagel and some coffee and she commented that her friend loves whales and asked to take a picture of my shirt. I said yes, of course and went about my business. It was lovely. Later the barista came over to my table and asked where I got the shirt. Truthfully, it wasn't my shirt, but I knew where it was from and told her it was from Urban Outfitters. I was really enjoying my coffee, and the Everything Bagel was on point, but that's when our relationship took a turn—she half-scoffed, smiled weakly and walked away. Moral: delicious coffee and bagels. Never admit to wearing Urban Outfitters!
