I was invited to Kappo Masa last week by a friend who said "this was his favorite restaurant in New York". I had never been there before but I remembered some reviews about the outrageous price they used to charge for food. This was 2015 and today is still expensive, rather pricey, but not outrageous for that part of the City and this type of food; but I did not pay the bill, so I will talk about the food and the place.  The location below the Gagosian gallery is a bit unusual but it adds to the ambiance and works of art on its walls.  The open kitchen and sushi bar are perfect. The food was really good, and we actually ordered too much because we could not finish the last roll.  I loved the Masa Toro Toro roll (pricey!) and the Miso Tofu with avocado. Sushi was superb.  There were several other dishes that I cannot even remember as it was a feast (thank you, friend). Service was efficient and unobtrusive.  Overall I really enjoyed the experience.
