Since 1939, this Bensonhurst original—where muscle-bound Brooklynites with deep accents gather in the outdoor patio—has served one of the best Sicilian slices in town. Candy-sweet tomato sauce is generously slathered over tall, doughy rectangles with a crunchy browned bottom. It’s finished with squares of melted mozzarella and zippy strands of Parm.

Come on, don't tell me you've been living in Brooklyn but sleeping on L&B. This place is the bomb. Do yourself a favor and get out there before summer's over so you can grab a slice and sit outside with it. Make sure you get a corner piece in your order too. After you're done enjoying the piece with cheese baked UNDER the sauce, get yourself spumoni for dessert.
Been going here for all my life -- just go and after you've inhaled 4 slices you'll start ordering half a tray with 3 friends at least once every summer
Spumoni Gardens is about the only place I’ll drive 30 minutes outside of the city for. It’s near Coney Island, so if I’m out that way, I always stop in for a slice of pizza and maybe an ice cream. There are really 2 parts to this place. There is a pickup window for pizza and ice cream that you can enjoy at their outdoor tables. Get ready for lots of kids to be running around. And great people watching in general, for that matter. If you want something a little more old-school Brooklyn, eat dinner in their restaurant. It is basic Italian, huge portions, incredibly low prices. This is not Manhattan, but it is amazingly good family-style Italian.
