A couple of potted plants and a random collection of fading photographs constitute the decor at this refreshingly unhip French café. The name means “good eats,” and it’s not far off. The menu highlights simple, Gallic fare such as a gooey, fried-egg–topped croque-madame, and crispy crêpes stuffed with filling proteins including grilled chicken with Parmesan, tomatoes and a tangle of caramelized onions. La Bonne Bouffe also makes up for its lack of atmosphere with a genuine desire to please. A generous helping of Nutella—smeared inside a dessert crêpe with bananas and strawberries—doesn’t hurt either.
